You can visit the unique Boheminium Miniature Park with a wide range of elaborate models of important building and technical monuments of the Czech Republic set in a unique way in the natural scenery near the hotel Krakonoš in Mariánské Lázně.
The Boheminium Park offers an exposition of more than 70 models of important landmarks from all over our country in 1:25 scale. The tourist educational park is located on the eastern outskirts of Mariánské Lázně near the Krakonoš Hotel - approximately 1 kilometre from the spa centre. The miniature park was opened to the public on 19 June 1999 with an exhibition of six models. The oldest models in the Boheminium Park are the Červená Lhota Chateau, the Rotunda of St. George on Říp, the Church of St. Nicholas with the Black Tower, the Old Bleach House with a water mill and the tugboat Bivoj. The miniature park quickly gained its fans and was gradually expanded with other models. In 2002 the Miniaturpark was closed due to bankruptcy proceedings. After protracted disputes, the miniature park gained a new owner and was reopened on 19 June 2003. In the shadow of the bankruptcy battles, the park began to build a new name under the still familiar name BOHEMINIUM. In the autumn of the same year, the first large model of the UNESCO monument was presented - the Pilgrimage Church of St. John of Nepomuk on Zelená hora. Another year full of great changes and uncertainty was 2015. The owners ended their cooperation with the current operator in the summer and decided to leave the project completely at the end of the year. Long and complex negotiations began, after which the town of Mariánské Lázně bought part of the models and another part, including the "Boheminium" brand, was purchased by Timeless production s.r.o., a private Prague company dealing with tourism and culture. In 2017, the Boheminium park was opened for the first time despite the winter and thus began year-round operation.
At present, 75 models are on display in the Boheminium Park over an area of approximately 6 hectares. Apart from the buildings already mentioned, you can enjoy, for example, Karlštejn Castle, Litomyšl Castle, Kynžvart Castle, Loket Castle, Český Krumlov Castle, Bezděz Castle, St. George´s Rotunda, the Hamelika lookout tower in Mariánské Lázně, Bečov nad Teplou Castle and Chateau, Humprecht Castle, the ruins of Přimda Castle, etc. There is no guide available in the park. However, each model has a detailed description in Czech, English, German and Russian. You will also receive a detailed map of the whole area with your ticket. The tour route is 2-3 kilometres long and the standard visit time is 2 hours. Visitors who carefully read the information boards at the individual models and study the details of the sights can spend a whole afternoon in the Boheminium Park. The park has wide paths, so you won´t be deprived of seeing any of the models - you can really get everywhere, whether with a pram or in a wheelchair. You can also visit the miniature park with your four-legged family member. However, dogs must always be on a leash.
Visit this beautiful place, take away a lot of experiences and be inspired to visit some of the most important Czech monuments!
