The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Františkovy Lázně is one of the few purely Empire sacral buildings in the Czech Republic.
The construction of the Catholic church in Františkovy Lázně was approved and financed by Emperor Franz I, who visited Františkovy Lázně in 1812. Two years later, the Emperor entrusted the spiritual administration for the summer season to the Knights of the Cross with the Red Star, who then took over the administration of the place permanently. The actual construction of the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross began in 1815 and was completed four years later. The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross was built in the classical style. The church was originally a branch of the parish in Horní Lomany. After Františkovy Lázně was promoted to a town in 1865, there was a need to establish a new parish here. The new parish was established in 1868 and at this time the construction of the neighbouring rectory began. It was built according to the design of Karl Wiedermann in a historicist style as a one-storey building with a low hipped roof. The parsonage was completed in 1869. In this year, the first parish priest of František Huspeka, O. Cr. He was elected Grand Master in 1882. From that time on, it has been a custom that the Grand Master of the Order opens the spa season by blessing the springs.
